They are by far the greatest I’ve seen from the media middle, but I can see certain aspects being a pain if you use the included remote (there is no keyboard to speak of, and scrolling via letter in order to spell things out is a hassle). The remote control app on iOS devices more than makes up for the possible lack of a keyboard since it provides added functionality (such as alpha numeric input, quick seeking and library browsing). I look forward to video assistance with airplay and can update this review as soon as I get to play with that (within November?)…..

We’d purchased the 47″ version of this TV ([.on sales LG Infinia 55LW5600 55-Inch Cinema 3D 1080p 120 Hz .. ]) and were absolutely blown away by the image quality… it is PRISTINE! (Easily a 5-star+ established.) In fact, we were so pleased about that unit that we thought organic beef want just a a little bit larger TV instead. So, we ordered the 55″ style and planned on going back the 47″ one. Well, amazingly, we’re sending back the 55″ TV. The image is substantially less pristine (grainy/pixelated/dull – even on the highest resolution blu-ray information… and even more remarkably, the 3D was doing us sick. (So strange, since we totally LOVED the 3D about the 47″ model.) Too bad… because we were really enthusiastic about the larger size… but we’d much go for quality over quantity.
Interestingly, it was my wife (who claims to never notice the “soap opera effect” with the new LCDs) who had been most disturbed by the product quality loss. It was glaringly evident to her (as it was to me… though I didn’t need to admit it, since I really wanted the larger model). If my wife news the difference, trust me… it’s there. I later did a side-by-side comparison between 55LW5600 and the 47LW5600 which in turn confirmed our suspicions.
Here’s a little more detail:
IMAGE QUALITY:
On this 55″ product, image quality of even the best resolution blu-ray discs ended up being noticably less sharp, more pixelated/grainy, and overall just additional dull. I played extensively while using settings but could certainly not overcome these issues.
Alternatively, images on the 47″ type and crisp and MAGNIFICENT. My hunch is the resolution on both models is identical, but it is spread more than a greater screen area on the larger unit, resulting in the power to more easily see picture flaws. I have not found specs to confirm this, though. We sit about 10-12 feet clear of the TV, and we did notice a large improvement in our perception in the image quality when relocating back about 5 foot. But, the arrangement of our room doesn’t allow us to sit this distance through the TV… so the 47″ may be the obvious choice for us.
I would say that you should not consider the 55″ version when you intend on sitting more detailed than 12 feet on the TV. Further out than of which, you may have an even better experience.
3D EFFECT:
I also learned that 3D can (under certain circumstances) create us sick. Strange, because we’ve always enjoyed 3D within the theater… and we absolutely LOVED 3D on the 47″ version of this TV. But, on this 55″ design, there were some strange fluttering effects, especially in fast-motion online video media. We also noticed some kind of strange boxy/pixelated effect throughout quick scene changes, or when going via bright to dark (along with vice versa) scenes.
None of these 3D issues occurred while using 47″ version. In fact, not only was your image impeccable, but the 3D appeared absolutely gorgeous (and got fully HD quality without having noticeable resolution loss).
So, if you’re debating (just like we did) about whether to look with LG’s 47″ model (47LW5600), or to go somewhat larger with the 55″ type… I’d suggest sticking with all the 47″ TV unless you will be sitting a fairly significant distance clear of the set…...
